Behavioral Health Worker (Mt. Carmel area)



Job Summary

Behavioral Health staff support services provide one-on-one interventions to a child or adolescent at home, school, daycare, YMCA, emergency room other community based program or community setting when the behavior without this intervention would require a more restrictive treatment or educational setting. This employee reports directly to the Mental Health Professional.


Job Description

- Specific behavioral health staff support services include crisis intervention techniques, immediate behavioral reinforcements, emotional support, time structuring activities, time-out strategies, passive restraints when necessary and additional psychosocial rehabilitative activities as prescribed in the treatment plan - Behavioral Health Workers services may be provided by more than one individual during a 24 hour period necessitating ongoing coordination of interventions among the individuals providing the support services. - Specific interventions to stabilize the child or adolescent - Support of the family’s efforts to stabilize the child or adolescent and to promote age appropriate behavior by working with the family. - Collaborations with other members of the treatment team and other professionals working in the home or in other community settings and participation in Inter-Agency Service Planning Meetings when possible. - Staff will have rotating schedules allowing them to serve children and families during days, evenings and weekends in school, home and community settings as needed. - Performs other duties as assigned. - Sanctuary- Demonstrate understanding of Sanctuary commitments in all interactions


Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in human service field (psychology, social work, sociology, education, or similar human service field) with two or more previous years work experience in a clinical setting, FBI Act 73, criminal history, and Act 33 clearances. Position requires a valid drivers license and candidates for this position must pass Safe Crisis Management Training both physical and theory, upon hire and then annually as a condition of employment.

Bachelor’s degree in human service field (psychology, social work, sociology, education, or similar human service field) with two or more previous years work experience in a clinical setting


Certification Requirements

Valid PA drivers license with good driving record. FBI Act 73, criminal history and Act 33 clearances.
