All individuals have the right to make their own decisions, including choices about the types of services
and supports they receive. The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program at Robinson Counseling Center helps adults
with chronic mental health challenges develop skills and access resources needed to increase their capacity
to be successful and satisfied in the living, working and learning and social environments of their choice.
Affectionately named "Liberty House" by clients and staff, the program promotes skills of independence,
emphasizing recovery for individuals having severe and persistent mental illness. Staff include certified
psychiatric rehabilitation practitioners who focus on helping individuals reintegrate with an active life.
Goals and elements of the program include:
- Individualized schedules based on each client's needs and preferences
- Relevance to people's culture and traditions
- Evidence-based practices that produce outcomes congruent with personal recovery
- Programming for young adults, senior adults and those with intellectual disabilities
- A commitment to build on clients' strengths and capabilities through self-determination and empowerment
