Rehabilitation

The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program at Robinson Counseling Center is a therapeutic weekday program that helps adults with chronic mental health challenges develop skills and access resources to increase their capacity to be successful and satisfied members of the community. The focus is on assisting clients to adopt the living, working, and learning and social environments of their choice.

Affectionately named “Liberty House” by clients and staff, the program promotes skills of independence, emphasizing recovery for individuals having severe and persistent mental illness. Staff include certified psychiatric rehabilitation professionals who focus on helping individuals develop and maintain an active life that fulfills their interests and goals. Common areas of focus are food shopping/meal planning and cooking, housing, self-care, time and money management, social skills, employment, transportation, and educational opportunities.

Elements of the program include:

  • Evidence-based practices that produce outcomes congruent with personal recovery
  • Individualized schedules based on each client’s needs and preferences
  • A commitment to build on clients’ strengths and capabilities through self-determination and empowerment
  • Programming for young adults, senior adults, and those with intellectual disabilities
