Autism: Testing, Treatment and Support
Autism:
Testing, Treatment and Support
Children’s Service Center and Robinson Counseling Center provide comprehensive testing and evaluation for children and adults who may have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). A diagnosis at any age can be instrumental in helping individuals with ASD function optimally and achieve their potential at home, school, work, and other community settings.
How to Request Autism Testing
- Call 570-825-6425 and inform our staff you are seeking services for autism testing and evaluation, and schedule an appointment for clinical intake and registration.
- At your intake and registration appointment, bring your insurance card, express your concerns, and sign releases and consents for your care. At this appointment, you will be set up with any recommended services such as autism testing, therapy, care management, etc.
What is Psychological Testing for Autism Spectrum Disorder?
Our psychologists use evidence-based testing measures to provide the best level of care for every individual. They lead a comprehensive approach to rule out any other diagnoses that may be presenting with similar symptoms, including ADOS-2, which is considered the “gold standard” for collecting standardized and objective information about social communication skills, restricted interests, and repetitive behaviors.
A sensory friendly room, available in Hazleton, can also be used by individuals and family members as part of evaluation. Please inform staff ahead of time if this setting is preferred.
We offer testing in various locations for adults throughout the lifespan.
What Does the Psychological Testing Process Look Like?
Following your intake and registration, a referral is sent to the psychologist.
- Appointment #1 consists of a psychological evaluation or a clinical interview to determine whether testing is clinically indicated.
- Appointment #2 consists of various assessments that may last from 1 to 3 hours.
- Appointment #3 consists of various assessments and may last from 1 to 3 hours.
- Appointment #4 consists of feedback where testing data is reviewed and you are provided with a diagnosis, recommendations, and the final testing report.
The report is designed to be shared with your primary care physician, therapist, and other professionals, and family members, to determine your needs and preferences for continuing support and care.
