Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS) are interventions and support for a child, teenager, or young adult under the age of 21 with mental, emotional, and/or behavioral health needs. These services can be provided in the home, school, or other community settings.
Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS-Individual)
IBHS-Individual services commonly support clients with a variety of behavioral health and mental health needs including, but not limited to, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and mood disorders.
IBHS-Individual services include therapies and support to reduce symptoms and manage behavioral challenges that are identified in the Individual Treatment Plan (ITP). The team focuses on improving coping strategies and developing skills that promote positive behaviors, while supporting all caregivers involved in the individual’s care across home, school, and community settings.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
ABA services involve evidence-based techniques to improve socially significant behaviors, thereby enhancing an individual’s overall well-being, independence, and quality of life. ABA achieves this by developing new skills and reducing harmful or limiting behaviors through positive reinforcement and environmental modifications. ABA services support individuals in their homes, schools, and communities.
Services are provided to the individual and their caregivers and families who are expected to be active participants in the treatment process. Services are based on an Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) developed by treatment team members consisting of, but not limited to, the child, family, school personnel, and behavioral health staff.
Requirements
- A written order from a licensed health provider: physician, physician assistant, psychologist, psychiatrist, clinical social worker, or professional counselor
- Insurance verification
- Assessment – After a written order, a clinical assessment will be conducted by the lead clinician across all settings, including the home, school, and community, to determine a child’s clinical need for IBHS-Individual/ABA services.
- Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) – The assessment helps to guide the family and team to develop the child’s ITP, which will include the goals of our child’s services, the interventions planned to assist in reaching those goals, and the people responsible for helping to implement the interventions described in the treatment plan.
Treatment Team
The treatment team may include, but is not limited to:
- The client and his or her family
- Psychologists
- Behavior analysts
- Behavioral consultants
- Mobile therapists
- Behavioral health technicians
- Case managers
- Collaborative agencies (physicians, camp staff)
