Your First Therapy Session
Starting therapy is a process that involves the sharing of a significant amount of information. We take great care to ensure that you are engaged in the right program to support your needs. In the first therapy session, your therapist will:
- Review the intake document to ensure all information and consents have been obtained.
- Ensure a safety plan is completed.
- Establish goals for treatment and a treatment plan with you and/or your family members.
- Discuss ways of delivering treatment and support.
- Discuss the review process, which will occur every 180 days or as needed.
- Ensure all screening/assessment tools are completed. These evaluations provide baseline measures to determine progress and treatment effectiveness.
- Discuss frequency and length of sessions throughout treatment.
- Discuss discharge planning. We work to monitor progress and ensure clients gain the skills needed to complete services. The duration of treatment depends upon a variety of factors.
